ALCONBURY PARISH COUNCIL
RFO's Report - 2008/2009

The Parish Council has been called to audit for the financial year 2008/2009 for 1st June, so the Annual Return will be agreed and signed at the AGM immediately following this Annual Parish Meeting. I am very pleased to say that Mr David Armstrong agreed to continue to act as the Council's Internal Auditor for another year, and I would like to take this opportunity of thanking him for his continued support in this role.

The Precept for 2008/2009 was £31,000. This equated to an annual charge of £55.06 Council Tax for a Band D property. Under the current economic climate, the Parish Council also decided to keep the Precept at £31,000 for the next financial year, 2009/2010.

The amount of support to local groups has increased this year to a total of £2,100 As well as groups such as the Over 60s, The Guides and The Brownies, the Parish Council was very pleased to be able to put some money towards the Friends of the Church Time Inspired production. It was also able to help the school with some money to go towards the repair of their perimeter pathway. One major consideration this year has been the planned improvement at Bramble End Playground. Although the Council will be applying for grants to go towards this development, many grant organisations require some match funding so a reserve of £4000 has been made to go towards this important and exciting project, which will be of great benefit to the village children.

At the end of the year the Parish Council is holding £12,500 in reserve for the Youth Group, £4000 for Bramble End development and there is £14,000 in the general reserve.
